HOW WE MET It

was the oddest of meetings in July 2014, in the most of circumstances I could never have imagined. I was tired after the day’s work; I went to the ladies to prepare for the long drive home from Marina to Ikeja. And, he was out there standing in the lobby area waiting for me to come out of the toilet (he had actually been watching and taking note of my itinerary for weeks). The time was about 5:35PM.

Next thing he said was, “how come you get to close this early?” and in my mind I was like ‘who is this guy and why is he talking to me? I ignored him and he just stood there with the biggest smile ever. Fast-forward to like 2weeks after, our mutual friend, Bunmi told me there was this guy that liked me and I literally rolled my eyes and asked who the person was. She actually assumed I knew him, I had to go fish him out and it clicked it was the same guy that accosted me weeks back. In my mind I brushed him away because I wasn’t ready for ‘office romance’.

Days grew to weeks and he was growing on me, I agreed to go out on a date with him after much shakara. We had our first date at @dominos, Ikeja gra. After then, things fell naturally into place and we decided to take it from there and see how it goes. Which has brought us to where we are today. OUR WONDERFUL MOMENTS Our first kiss – which I initiated by the way. (SMH) His birthday – Oct 27, 2014 (which I gave him a surprise dinner some hours before)

The day he proposed – Oct 27, 2015. THE PROPOSAL

I had given up on him proposing so I didn’t see it coming. All I knew was we were already planning a wedding so I wasn’t expecting a proposal. Days before his birthday, I kept asking, ‘what are we doing for your birthday?’ He would just shrug and say I don’t know. At a point, I was frustrated and decided to ignore him. I told myself, ‘I’ve sha bought cake, so let me rest too, since he isn’t in celebration mood’. On the day of his birthday, during the day when I called, he sounded very busy; I just shrugged it off thinking he was meeting people and all. I was busy in the office tormenting my friend about the cake delivery. I’m sure I told her to call them a zillion times, lol. It was 5.30pm and the cake was yet to arrive, I was upset.

I finally managed to meet the delivery man half way and drive to La Mango in Maryland for his birthday party. Boo had finally decided to throw a party at the last minute. I got there, hugged him dropped his cake and sat down to enjoy myself. I noticed his best friend, brother, my sister and other close friends were in attendance, which was normal though. While I and my friend, Bunmi were going through IG, I heard an announcement that a certain man wants to propose to his girlfriend, I was like huh? Next thing a waiter dropped a plate in front of me and opened it; it had ‘will u marry me with a ring in the middle’.

People were screaming while I kept grinning like a child who saw candy, I remember being very shy though. All the while boo was on bended knee beside me and just smiling. My sister had run out of the toilet screaming and angry that we didn’t wait for her. I don’t think he even said or mumbled anything, he just put the ring on n we kissed and I said yes….
